Jump Into Tango: A Celebration of Beginner Dancers
(by Bailonga)
Over the years, Bailonga’s weekly Argentine Tango dance has developed a reputation as an incredibly special community. Argentine Tango is known among social dances for being insular and sometimes protective, but Bailonga’s regulars greet everyone with open arms. Our ability to be warm and welcoming while at the same time casual and playful has even been recognized by internationally known tango instructors, who openly share our little group of dancers in Eugene, Oregon is their favorite tango community.
With “Jump Into Tango” we are harnessing our super-power to invest in the future of our tango community. Because everyone’s tango journey has to start somewhere.
On April 15th, we are asking our established and experienced community members to invest in the future of our tango community and spend an evening prioritizing and seeking out beginner dancers to ensure everyone has a chance on the dance floor. We want these new dancers to leave at the end of the night having had a wonderful time and motivated to return the following week.
We’ll start the evening with a beginner lesson at 7PM with Noah Brenner, and experienced dancers are invited to attend as well! This will be followed by a tango game to ensure everyone has a partner to start the evening with.
Dancing starts at 8PM, and for the remainder of the evening, there will be a handful of instructors available for questions and one-on-one practice off the main dance floor.
To make this event as accessible as possible, it will only cost you $5, AND every single attendant of our “Jump Into Tango” event will receive a free pass to a future Bailonga event of their choice. We will also be providing resources for next steps for beginners to continue their tango journey.
